Way Summit, May 2014, Amman-Jordan


On Friday May 16, 2014, Welfare Association for Youth (WAY) held its annual summit attended by an inspirational group of WAY members and potential members in addition to members of Welfare Association (WA).

The event featured numerous inspirational speakers from WA, WAY, in addition to youth led initiatives including:

WA Board of Trustees Chairman: Dr Nabil Qaddumi reiterated the commitment of WA towards WAY in addition to the importance of the youthís role in the continuity of the Welfare Associationís efforts in supporting Palestinian people.

Dr Rashid Khalidi, WA BOT member, and Professor of Modern Arab Studies at Columbia University, gave us an insight of current role of youth in preserving Palestinian image, and cause at US.

The Director General of WA Dr Tafeeda Jarbawi, talked about the culture of giving and the importance of charitable work as an ingredient of character and self-fulfillment.

Dr Ahmad Bashir shared with the group the successful Cycling for Palestine-Give to Jerusalem, organized by WAY Jordan.

Bilbal cofounder, Ms. Rasha Kashkoush, spoke about her inspiring initiative that aims to connect youth with the cause they aspire to volunteer their time and effort.

Mr Hasan Masri, President of WAY ExCom, share the story of WAY and the way forward.

It was a great pleasure to see many new faces attending the summit and expressing interest in joining the Welfare Association for Youth (WAY), emphasizing the importance of WAY and its mission to provide Palestinian youth with a platform where they can express their Palestinianism and support Palestine.

During the summit, a new WAY Executive Committee has been nominated and selected for the term 2014-2016.

Future WAY 2014 events and activities are announced and will be posted on our website and social media tools soon.

On Saturday, May 17, 2014, the group met for lunch at Ammanís Villa 14, to solidify the connection amongst WAY members and discuss future plans.

Thank you to all those that took the time on a Friday morning to join us at the summit and look forward to having all of you at future events so we can together pave our WAY to Palestine.
